Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is there a difference between on-site services and off-site services?

There is a major difference between on-site and off-site shredding services. The most significant difference is the fact that with an on-site shredding service the customer can visually verify that their documents, records and materials have been permanently destroyed. This increased level of security does, sometimes, come with increased cost. Since a business cannot transfer its responsibility to maintain confidentiality, it must be certain that it is dealing with a reputable company with superior security procedures. Unfortunately, there are those information destruction services that provide certificates of destruction while having no semblance of security and, in some cases, no destruction process available to them. Many commercial facilities offer records destruction as a service to their customers. However, in a survey conducted by the National Association for Information Destruction, a majority of the commercial firms were found lacking the equipment necessary to provide the service themselves. It is a common practice in that industry to subcontract the destruction of the records. In some cases, disreputable firms were found misleading their customers by charging for secure records destruction, while the materials were being sold to a recycling company for scrap. Anyone company or individual interested in using a data destruction service is advised to thoroughly review their policies and procedures, conduct an initial site audit and conduct subsequent unannounced audits.

  • Are you a member of NAID?

Yes, we are a member of NAID which stands for the National Association for Information Destruction.

(NAID®) is the international trade association for companies providing information destruction services. Suppliers of products, equipment and services to destruction companies are also eligible for membership. NAID's mission is to promote the information destruction industry and the standards and ethics of its member companies.

  • Why should I or my company shred or destroy confidential records, files or data?

  • What is the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and why is it important for my company to be compliant?

With the new Canadian Government legislation individuals and companies need to be proactive when dealing with their records and documentation. The new Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) is designed to protect the privacy of all personal data that is collected, used and disclosed in the course of commercial activity.

Businesses and organizations are responsible for adhering to 10 principles, each of which is aimed at ensuring proper information security safeguards. The need to confidentially dispose and recycle information has never been more important. In fact, as recommended by the Act, destruction of information must be done in a secure fashion.

Now is the time to review your company's current policies of confidential record destruction and we invite you to contact us to help in your destruction and recycling requirements.

Our competitors use this confusion to promote their services as less expensive when in actual fact they are the same and, sometimes, more expensive. We guarantee to apply the lowest rate for our customers. For large jobs that could be based on a ‘per box; rate or flate rate. For smaller jobs our ‘per minute’ rate may be the lowest charge.
